 How to make egg roll, hello dear esteemed readers today I would be teaching you how to make egg roll. As we all know, egg roll is one of the most commonly eaten snacks in Nigeria.

Before we dive into the tutorial proper, we  wouldbriefly see our main ingredient - 'egg'.

Egg is a food product gotten from the hen. The egg can be said to be protenious in nature. A small egg of about 38 grams can be said to have a total of 4.9 grams of protein.






Ok readers, let me bore you with so much explanations. Let's go into how to make homemade egg roll.

Egg roll with it's primary ingredient egg as the name implies, is accompanied by some other major ingredients like flour, sugar, salt, margarine etc.

RECIPE USED IN MAKING EGG ROLL

  • 500 grams of flour

  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt

  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder or yeast

  • Nutmeg

  • Granulated sugar

  • 100 grams of margarine or butter

  • 6 eggs 

  • 1/2 cup of milk

  • Pepper

  • Paprika

  • Vegetable oil

  • Water

  • Powdered garlic

EQUIPMENTS  NEEDED IN MAKING EGG ROLL

  • Egg whisk

  • Mixing bowl

  • Chopping board ( any clean flat surface. You can also use a table)

  • Dough cutter

  • Paper towels

  • Rollers

  • Spoon

  • Frying pan

  • Gas/ stoves

INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO MAKE EGG ROLL


√ Make sure all your equipments are clean and on the table. Endeavour to wash your hand and dry with a towel.


√ Cook all the 6 eggs ( or any amount you've gotten) in a pot of water. Remove the boiled eggs and unshell it.


√ Turn warm water in your medium size bowl and add your baking powder or yeastK


√ Keep the mixture in step 3 aside for around 4 - 5 minutes, then add your paprika using a whisk and add your 


√ Pour your flour into the mixing bowl and Begin kneading 






√ Remember to rub floor around your hands before you start kneading


√ Keep kneading smoothly until you get an even, smooth dough mould 


√ Pour flour on your flat surface ( Maybe your chopping board or table), then turn out the whole kneaded mould onto the surface 


√ Begin flattening out your dough using a roller until the dough is flat enough. Let's say 1cm thick 


√ Use a dough cutter to cut the dough into 6 circles ( depends on the amount of eggs you are using)


√ Pick up your peeled eggs and place them in - between the cut dough. Be careful as possible, wrap the dough around the  egg fully and make sure it's perfectly even


√ You can divide the eggs into two equal halves so that you have much dough 


√  Cover up all the roll and leave for 20 minutes


√ Pour your vegetable oil into the frying pan and heat at low temperature. Don't let the oil smoke 


√ Gently drop the rolled dough into the pan of oil. Drop as many as possible but do not over crowd the pan 


√  Keep a close look at the colour of the dough. Don't make it so brown and don't burn it 


√ Use the perforated spoon to remove the egg roll from the pan. The perforated spoon is used to drain the oil


√ Place the rolls on a paper towel to absorb the oil


Now, your egg roll is fully prepared. You can serve this with a chilled drink or zobo. Egg roll can be used for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

HOW TO MAKE PANCAKE




We would also talk about yet another sweet delicacy called the pancake. The Nigerian pancake is also a commonly eaten snack around Nigeria.

During my early childhood days, I so much loved pancakes that I carried it to nursery School. As I advanced and went into college, my quest for that wonderful snacks was still there.

I don't know why but, I preferred pancakes yo egg roll. It maybe because my mom prepares it always.

Wow..! Good old days. Well that's enough about hearing about me. Let's talk about how to make pancake.
The ingredients for making pancake is alike to that of egg roll. Here are some:

- Flour

- 2 raw eggs ( this time, we are not boiling it)

- 300ml of milk. You can also dissolve milk in water

- 2 tablespoon of butter or margarine

- 3 tablespoon of sugar ( maybe more or less, based on preference)

- Pepper

- Pinch of salt

- Nutmeg

- Vegetable oil

- Onions

- Baking powder

EQUIPMENTS USED IN MAKING PANCAKE


- A bowl

- whisk

- Spoon

- Gas/stove

- Towel

- Frying pan

HOW TO PREPARE THE HOMEMADE PANCAKE


- Break the eggs into the bowl, then add your butter and sugar. Turn the mixture using a whisk or wooden spoon

- Add onions, pepper, salt and nutmeg. Stir thoroughly. Then add the liquid milk and keep stirring

- Pour flour gently while you keep stirring

- Stir until the whole mixture begins to get thick

- If the mixture is too thick, pour some more milk or water and continue stirring until the mixture is smooth






Note: The lighter you make the mixture, the thinner the pancake

- Grease the frying pan with oil. It's unlike the egg roll that we dipped into pan full of oil

- Using a spoon, take some amount of the whole mixture and pour in the hot oil

- You can carry the pan by holding and slightly tilt it so that the mixture covers all the sides of the pan. Avoid hot oil spilling on your body.

- Leave one part of the pancake for a while, then use a spoon to turn it over. Continue the process till the colour becomes even

Congratulations, your pancake is ready
